A GROUP of Rye teenagers will be getting an early start when they travel to their sixth form college in Hastings next week.

The former Rye College students will be leaving Rye at 3am next Thursday to walk the 12 miles to Parkwood Sixth Form to raise money for charity.

Making the journey will be Hugo Dawson, Charlie Mills, Daisy Jarvis, Winni Jarvis, Tony Sims and Calum Munro.

All money raised will go towards the work they will do in Kabubbu, a large town in Uganda.

So Far they have sponsorship of about £600, but the whole group from Parkwood need to raise a lot more if they are to make their target.

The work in Uganda includes teaching in schools, helping individual families and a building project to help the local community.

Daisy Jarvis said: “There are many more fund raising events planned to raise the total amount of money needed for the project.

“If you would like to know anymore about the Kabubbu project, please email sue.warren@williamparker.e-sussex.sch.uk and anyone wishing to donate can send a cheque payable to: William Parker Sports College c/o Sue Warren, Kabubbu Trip Co-ordinator, WPSC, Parkstone Road, Hastings TN34 2NT.”
