A FARM in Beckley which helps adults with learning difficulties an offers vocational training for children is holding a Family Fun Day on Saturday.

Little Gate Farm, in Horseshoe Lane, is a care farm charity project.

Claire Cordell, from the farm, explained: “We provide adults and children with purposeful day-care and vocational training.

“Rangers learn woodland and farm skills, animal care, and food production promoting self-confidence, and skill acquisition with the aim of going on to paid work and volunteering in the community.

“Learning is based around the three areas of the farm – woodland, farm animals and horticulture. Activities help improve creativity, self- esteem and concentration

The Fun Day event on Saturday runs from 12 - 4pm and is free. It is being held as part of Open Farm Sunday.

Events planned for Sunday include welly tossing, weigh a lamb and making a scare crow.

There will be lots of other entertainment including tribal belly dancers, duck racing, a woodland treasure hunt and candyfloss,.

There will be a barbecue, cakes for sale as well as many stalls.
