Colin Boylett, 2 Park Farm Close

I trust you have all had a Good Christmas and New Year, and have now recovered from the festivities. It is time to start planning your contributions to the February/March issue of the Parish Magazine, get your info in before the deadline on January 17.Contact details; 01580 819434 etchparishmag@btinternet.com

Also, the Home Page of the village website www.etchinghamvillage.co.uk is used a bit like a village notice board, send details of your events as soon as you have them to etchinghamvillagewebsite@gmail.com and they can be added to the site. If you are connected to a village organisation or business check the information for your organisation or business in the listings on the site, if details are missing or need changing send details to the email address above.

You will have noticed that preliminary work has started on the Lambing Field site. The initial work has been to create a new entrance into the site and make provision for contractors vehicles to get off the road, serious work on the site will commence after the Christmas and New Year holiday. Now that work is underway I will try and get up to the site as often as possible and get pictures of progress. I have created a set on Flickr for the pictures to go in, you will find it at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ttelyob/sets/72157638664694015/ if you take any pictures as the work progresses, if you email the pictures to me, with details of date taken, I will be happy to add them to the set.

Community Speedwatch, training of the first of the volunteers is underway, we hope to be able to start speed checks as soon as possible after Christmas. If you want to find out more about how Speed Watch works go to the village website www.etchinghamvillage.co.uk, follow the Speed Watch link on the left, or visit the Sussex Police website www.sussex.police.uk and put Speed Watch into the search box. If you are willing to be included in such a useful and necessary scheme please ring Jill Copland on 01580 819321, Colin Boylett on 01580 819532 or email etchinghamspeedwatch@gmail.com . You can now also register directly on to the system, go to www.communityspeedwatch.co.uk then the button labelled ‘System Access’ from the drop-down menu select ‘Register as Group Operator’ and follow the instructions, remember to change the group name to Etchingham, fill in your details and register. You will get a confirmation email and the Etchingham Group Admin will contact you as soon as your details appear on the system. Updates on the progress of the scheme will also be posted on Facebookwww.facebook.com/etchinghamspeedwatch and on the village website. If you are concerned about the speed of the traffic through the village, get involved today.

If your organisation has events planned for the coming months, let me know the dates as soon as possible, even if you only have the date without full details, I can then put the date in the column so that people can put the date in their diary, you can then send me full details nearer the date.

Get information for this column to me as soon as possible, if you have a diary of events planned for the year let me have the dates and I will put in a list of village events for the year so that people can put the dates in their diaries. There are several ways to get your info to me, but email is preferred because there is less chance of errors during copying. I need information by 10pm on Monday to be sure it will be in time for inclusion, I can sometimes add extra items on Tuesday morning, but this cannot be guaranteed. Just a little reminder, I get plenty of information about events that are taking place, but I get very little follow up information, after your event try and remember to send me brief account of how successful your event was, it can be as simple as a thank you to those that attended and how much money was raised etc. You can deliver to 2 Park Farm Close, telephone 01580 819532 or 07941 786244 or email colin.boylett@gmail.com .
