RYE celebrated Christmas in traditional style with a day long festive event on Saturday.
The High Street was closed to traffic and filled with the aroma of roasting chestnuts and the sounds of carols.
A children’s funfair set up in Cinque Ports Street, while visitors were able to buy presents and sample produce from a Christmas Market at Strand Quay.
Father Christmas took part in a procession through the town, joined by local children, before taking up residence in his grotto at Rye Museum. A live animal nativity took place at Church Square.
For the first time in years the town had a full light display with lights strung across the street. A big Christmas tree was lit up outside the George.
Rother Council added to the festive cheer by waiving charges in the town’s car parks.
