A flood alert has been issued for the River Rother this morning (Sunday, January 3).

The Environment Agency issued the alert shortly before 8.30am following a period of persistent rainfall.

The alert is for the River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.

A flood alert is the lowest of three warnings which can be issued by the Environment Agency.
