Headmaster David Clark said: “Battle Abbey School has yet again registered a strong set of GCSE results that leave our pupils well placed to push on and fulfil their potential at A Level.

“Overall the School saw a 99.5 percent pass rate with 87 percent achieving at least five GCSEs and 84 percent of grades were at A*-C. Perhaps most notable was that just under 30 percent of all grades achieved were at A* and A.

“A number of our subjects, including Chemistry, Art, Chinese, Textiles, Latin, Spanish and Dance saw every single candidate achieve A*- C.

“Some other subjects saw large numbers achieving the very top grades. Maths, for example, saw a fantastic 47 percent of all candidates achieve an A or A* grade.

“Particular mention should go to Katie Gibbs with 8 A* and 5 A grades. Roxanne Greenwood who achieved 4 A*, 4 A and a B grade. Tamsin Richendoller Hill who achieved 7 A* and 4 A grades. Ruby Chadwick Gibbons who achieved 6 A* 3 A and a B grade and Leon Dobson who achieved 5 A*, 2 A and 2 B grades. Ben Chandler who achieved 4 A*, a A and 2 B grades.

“Our GCSE cohort is an industrious and popular group within the school, and we are delighted that their hard work has paid off.
