The Reds frontman netted the only goal of the game just before half-time to end their run of three straight losses.

It also marked their first away win in almost three months and Harrold was delighted to put a smile back on the away fans’ faces as they shut out their hosts in difficult conditions.

He said: “We had lost three on the trot so confidence was a bit low, but we came here very resilient and against a team with a new manager, so they had that extra bit of zip and everything.

“But we put in a perfect and classic away performance 1-0 to send the fans home happy.

“It was never going to be easy as it was very tough conditions, you can tell by the way Stevenage started the game they have obviously had a bit of an impact from their new manager.

“They were snapping into tackles and playing on the front foot and we dealt with it. We probably haven’t defended as a team well enough recently in the three games we have lost.
