An inquest into the death of seven-year-old Northiam schoolgirl, Mary Shipstone, is being held this morning (Friday, September 4).

The hearing is set to give answers on what caused the tragic events leading to her death on September 11 last year.

Mary died of gunshot wounds after her estranged father, Yasser Alromisse, shot her twice in the head before turning the gun on himself.

The death of the Beckley School pupil left the village in shock.

Church members, groups in the village and the parish council rallied round in support of the family.

An Observer reporter is at the inquest today.

Further updates will be published later.
