MPs out of touch with electorate

If the EU referendum had just been between Members of Parliament, then there would have been around 70 per cent support to Remain.

Our local MPs were Remainers, yet much of the South East was for Leave. Should they not ask themselves, ‘how did we lose touch with those that elected us?’.

We gave the EU 40 years to get their finances straight, yet they could never agree the Budget figures and we finally woke up to the fact that we were never going to get more back than we put in, no matter what. Where else would these eurocrats, many earning far more than our Prime Minister, be given house room coming up with ever more unreal directives? Light bulbs, vacuum cleaners, fishing quotas, bendy fruit and veg each running in to hundreds of pages of dense gobble de gook.

Other countries ignored what didn’t suit them, but if the UK demurred, all hell broke loose. Surely we can make better use of the billions we paid in to the EU each year on ourselves and not EU International Aid projects such as space rockets for rich countries that neglect feeding their poor.

The EU had a last chance when Cameron tried to renegotiate for a fairer return, but came away visibly empty handed. The electorate knew he had nothing, yet we were told ‘the Emperor has new clothes’ when we could see how bare he was.

There are record levels of unemployment in Greece, Spain, Italy and France, yet we don’t see those EU nationals queuing in camps in Calais.

We’ve been the victim of the greatest Ponzi scheme of all time and once the EU realises that the golden goose is not laying eggs for them, we may well see other countries unwilling to stay and pour their good money after bad.

Now the losers are wanting a second referendum (and another, ad infinitum until they get the result they want). How is that democratic?

How can Scotland with less than 6 million out of the UK 65 million population now expect to break away from England’s 56 million inhabitants? How is that democratic?

Should a part of the UK with 59 MPs out of 650 be able to dictate what it wants over the rest of us? How is that democratic?

We gave up crying when we couldn’t get our own way as children, let’s not revert to a second childhood just because you don’t like what the majority chose.

England has an average population density of over 400 per square kilometres, second only in Europe after Malta, compared to Scotland at about 65 per sq Km, 25 per cent of whom live in and around Glasgow. France has about 120 per sq km; Spain about 90 psk. There’s plenty of room to absorb all the refugees/immigrants in those countries without the UK having to absorb close to 300,000 every year.

We’ve had the decision, respect it and let’s work together for a brighter global future, and not have any further division.
