Vote will affect day-to-day life

In view of the many '˜facts' that have been publicised by both the remain and leave camps, many of which are pure speculation, I would like to point out those facts we know to be true and which affect our lives on a daily basis.

FACT - Many of the roads in this country are subject to delays on a daily basis. Some of this is due to roadworks or accident, but a significant number is down to sheer volume of traffic because of the increasing number of people in the country and therefore, cars on the road.

FACT - Our NHS is currently struggling to meet patient demand. Part of the reason may be that we are all living longer, but the main reason is the increase in population, which looks set to continue. Waiting times for appointments and operations are unreasonably long and cannot possibly be reduced whilst the population continues to increase.

FACT – We pay more into the EU than we receive back in subsidies and rebates.

FACT - Under EU rules, we cannot easily stop the movement of people from within the European Community into this country, or the removal of foreign criminals.

FACT - Many of us are unable to obtain places for our children in the school of our choice, due to increased demand for places.

FACT - Our villages and rural communities are being forced to accept extra house building in order to keep up with increased demand for accommodation. Many beautiful green field sites are being made residential against local wishes, to keep up with this increasing housing demand.

FACT – The British fishing industry has suffered through having to give up many of its fishing grounds to fleets from other nations.

FACT – Our national laws are constantly being overruled by the European courts. Our influence within the EU is extremely limited, so these courts have the power to completely dictate the legal system in the future. We need to regain our sovereignty if we wish to operate by laws which are relevant to this country and give influence back to the man in the street.

FACT – Mr Cameron failed to obtain the changes he was seeking in his recent negotiations with the other EU countries. Claims that he can influence EU decisions from within are, therefore, unfounded.

FACT - The auditors have refused to sign off the EU accounts for the last 19 years.

I believe that those statements listed above are true facts and many impact on us on a daily basis. Most of us complain about at least one of them regularly.

We have now been given an opportunity to take back control of these aspects of our lives, having experienced the increasing influence of EU regulations. I also believe that dissatisfied voters from other countries will be watching us with great interest, with a view to possibly following our example. We have seen the alternative and we need to grasp this once-in- a-lifetime opportunity while we have the chance. If we want to start to redress the problems listed above, we have one chance only to vote leave.
