A stunning start to the festive period was made by the Christmas Capers event in Robertsbridge on Friday (December 4).

The Lightwalker led the children’s procession down the High Street along with Martin Brockman’s reindeer and the pied piper Julia Gooding. Parents and children helped light the way with homemade lanterns.

Martin also created a one day only event, transforming the Mission Room into a magical forest of art, and things to amuse and treasure, accompanied by the spellbinding storytelling of Kevin Graal; it will live long in the memory of all who were able to visit it.

Choirs sang, shop windows sparkled with original Christmas displays and lights capturing the mood.

For the children’s entertainment, Father Christmas was in his grotto and there was a vintage chair-o-plane ride in The George car park.
