Aerobatics over Fairlight are upsetting local residents
FAIRLIGHT residents are angry over a rogue pilot performing illegal aerobatics over the village.
They claim the manoeuvres performed by a light aircraft directly above houses are causing noise disturbance and putting properties at risk in the event of a crash or anything falling from the aircraft.
One concerned resident, who did not want to be named, said: “This has been happening frequently now for weeks.
It always seems to take place around lunchtime and goes on for a considerable time.
“The plane is looping the loop, flying upside down and carrying out all kinds of aerobatics,
“If something goes wrong lives could be put at risk and I am sure the insurance will not cover any damage done to properties.
“We have raised it with the police but they say it is outside their jurisdiction.
“He has the sea close by, why is he choosing to do this over our village?”
The Civil Aviation Authority’s Rules of the Air regulations state that “an aircraft shall not carry out an aerobatic manoeuvre over the congested area of any city, town or settlement”.
The Air Navigation Order defines a Congested Area as “an area that is substantially used for residential, industrial, commercial or recreational purposes”.
