Battle man charged over attempted raid on jewellers

A MAN has been charged with burglary with intent to steal following an attempted raid at a Battle jewellers.

Police were called to Spectrum Jewellers in the High Street just before 5pm last Tuesday (January 8) following reports three men had tried to steal the contents of the front window display.

Max Nevin, 20, a stonemason, of Hastings Road, Battle, has been remanded to appear at court on a later date.

A 31-year-old man and 16-year-old boy, both from Battle, have also been arrested in connection with the incident.

They have been released on police bail until March 16, pending further enquiries.
