Battle Flower Show is great success

The sun shone when Battle Floral and Horticultural Society held its autumn show on Saturday.

The number and standard of entries was good, considering the recent appalling weather.

The floral arrangement delighted judges and the photography section saw some excellent entries.

Visitors were also able to enjoy the excellent refreshments on offer.

The organisers would like to thank Tim Gowland and Roger Castle, both of Catsfield, for judging.

The F Somerville Cowan Perpetual Challenge Cup for best exhibit in the dahlia classes went to Linda Jones.

Nikki Cuff won the Mrs C A Longfield Challenge Trophy for getting the most points in the floral exhibits.

Jackie Williams got the Garden News shield for the most points in the vegetable section.

The Maurice Cornford Trophy was given to Chris Hone for the most points in the fruit section.

Best Harvest Trug was done by David Furness and the floral arragement Smithard Trophies went to Val Bishop and Nikki Cuff.
