Beatles Day fundraiser taking place this Sunday

The ever-popular Beatles Day extravaganza takes place this weekend - and organisers are promising it will be better than ever.

The annual event, which has so far raised more than 60,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, takes place at The White Rock Theatre on Sunday.

A record 320 musicians, singers and dancers will fill the venue's two stages - including old favourites like 1066 Rock-it Men, The Crayons and the superb The Submarino Marinos, made up of St Leonards funnyman Steve Furst and singer songwriter Blair Mackichen.

The fun starts at 12noon and continues until 10.30pm and includes a live performance of the Fab Four's Abbey Road album.

Beatles fans flock from all over the UK to the event, but even if you are not a fan of the band's original work there is something for everyone at Beatles Day, with songs performed in rock, blues, r and b, classical, Latin and even dance.

The restaurant and licensed bars will be available all day and there will be a face painter in the afternoon for children.

Admission is 7.50 for adults, 3.50 for children aged five to 14 and 20 for a family of two adults and up to three children under 14, all available on the door.

There are also snazzy Beatles Day 10 T-shirts for sale at just 8 each, posters, and a large raffle will. All proceeds got to Macmillan Cancer Support.
