Beatles Day 10 to be the biggest and best yet

A popular day of music which raises funds for a local charity is gearing up for its 10th year.

The annual Beatles Day extravaganza sees hundreds of musicians descend on Hastings to perform hits from the Fab Four's back catalagoue and has raised more than 60,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Now plans are well underway for the tenth Beatles Day, which is due to take place at The White Rock Theatre on Sunday April 5.

Each year Beatles Day showcases more than 10 hours of non-stop live Beatles' hits and this year's event promises to be the best yet.

Many of the old favourites have already signed up and a fine selection of new and young bands from the area will be joining them.

The day will feature the live performance of Abbey Road, the eleventh official album released by The Beatles which they started recording at the famous Abbey Road studios in April 1969 - exactly forty years before Beatles Day 10.

Both stages in the White Rock Theatre will be used to fit in nearly 50 separate acts and guarantee an eclectic mix of performances from rock, blues and ska to r'n'b, classical, Latin and dance.

The restaurant and licensed bars will be available throughout the day and there will be a face painter in the afternoon for the kids.

There will also be volunteers selling merchandse and a raffle with some superb prizes.

All of the musicians, organisers and helpers donate their time completely free and all the money raised goes to help local people with cancer.

Admission is 7.50 for adults, 3.50 for children five to 14 and 20 for a family of two adults and up to 3 children under 14.

Tickets are available from The White Rock Theatre.
