Captain Pugwash sets sail for Rye

There is exciting news for Captain Pugwash fans with the re-launch of three original titles in Rye this month.

Created by Rye author and illustrator John Ryan, Captain Pugwash first set sail over 50 years ago as a strip cartoon, and since then he has featured in books, films and theatres all over the world.

Frances Lincoln, an independent publisher, is re-launching three titles in their original form - Captain Pugwash, Pugwash Aloft, and Pugwash and the Ghost Ship.

They will be launched from Martello Bookshop in Rye High Street, next Wednesday. November. John Ryan, together with his wife Priscilla, will welcome their friends and fans of Pugwash between 5 and 7 pm.

Wendy Harvey, from Martello, said: "The three titles will be on sale at 12.99 each, and will make an ideal Christmas present for all ages."

John Ryan has recently donated two framed Captain Pugwash illustrations to be auctioned off for local good causes, including the ARRCC respite and rehabilitation centre.
