Caravan burglars strike in Rother
POLICE are warning people not to leave expensive items in their caravans following a new wave of break-ins.
Televisions and DVD players have been stolen from caravan parks in Crowhurst, Winchelsea Beach, Camber and Hastings since the beginning of February.
Three caravans were broken into at Crowhurst Park between February 5-12.
It is the second time the park has been targeted in recent weeks.
At least eight caravans were broken into at Crowhurst Park overnight on February 5/6.
Meanwhile, thieves struck again on February 14/15, with four caravans broken into at the Beauport Holiday Park.
And a caravan at a site in Lydd Road, Camber, was broken into on February 15.
A 42” television was taken in the raid.
Earlier this month the Observer reported how at least five caravans were broken into at the Rye Bay Caravan Park in Pett Level Road, Winchelsea Beach, on February 2/3.
Police say they believe the same people could be responsible for the thefts.
Sergeant Paul Masterson, of the Battle Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Battle and surrounds have suffered from a few break-ins to caravans and vehicles recently.
“I’d like to remind all to please remove any valuable items from vehicles when leaving them and to help protect your property by security marking with your post code.
“Your local PC or PCSO can provide this.”
Anyone with information about any of the break-ins is asked to call Sussex Police on 101.
