Dog rescue delays trains
EASTBOURNE train passengers were delayed on Monday evening (November 30) after a man tried to climb on to a railway track to rescue his dog.
Sussex Police were called to Haywards Heath after the man strongly indicated that he would climb down to rescue his pet.
The Herald understands the dog was a Staffordshire bull terrier and had been hit by a train at the entrance to a tunnel.
The owner of the dog was escorted from the railway station by officers.
This, combined signal problems in the Ouse Valley area, meant that train services in the area were delayed.
Passengers travelling between London, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne, Littlehampton, Brighton and Ore after rush hour were affected.
