Driver hurt after car crashes on icy road

A MOTORIST was taken to hospital after her car skidded off the road in icy weather on Monday morning.

The woman was heading along Powdermill Lane in Battle when her car left the road and collided with a fence near the junction with Telham Lane.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene just after 7am.

Meanwhile another vehicle had stopped to help the stricken woman.

But then another vehicle left the road and struck the Good Samaritan’s vehicle.

A spokesperson from Southeast Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) said a woman in her 30s was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings with abdominal pain.

A man was treated by paramedics on the scene.

Sussex Police say the road was cleared by 9am.

It was the second accident police had attended along the same stretch of road during the last few days.

Two vehicles collided on Powdermill Lane, Battle, on Thursday February 14.

Police were called to the scene just before 6.45pm.

The road was cleared by 7.35pm.

Thankfully no one was injured in the incident.
