Eastbourne's Uptown Players are on TV tonight

EASTBOURNE drama group the Uptown Players are being featured on television tonight.

They are asking you to vote for them to increase their chances of winning a TV competition which could see them creating a project about Eastbourne during World War II.

The Uptown Players are part of the People's Millions, a competition where the public are invited to vote by telephone for the project which most appeals to them.

They will be on Meridian Tonight on ITV between 6pm and 6.30pm.

The project the Uptown Players will set up if they get enough votes is called 'Frontline Eastbourne' and aims - through drama, poetry and art - to bring people of all ages together to examine the impact of World War II on Eastbourne, to teach younger people about the war and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

A win would mean the drama group could collect the memories and experiences of Eastbourne residents who were directly affected by the events of 1940 and to share their recollections with the wider community.

The phone lines are open now and close at midnight tonight. To vote for the Uptown Players call 0871 626 88 52.

You can vote up to 10 times (calls cost 10 pence from BT landlines).
