Exciting new app to point way for walks

Walk app

Walk app

EAST Sussex County Council has launched a free mobile app to help people get the most out of exploring the surrounding countryside.

The app, which includes circular walks in the Rye and Battle area, can be downloaded free to smart phones and tablets.

With map and satellite views available, the walks are easy to follow and the app, created with the help of European funding, uses GPS to guide you, ensuring you stay on their right path.

There are currently 11 included on the app, but more will be added over time.

Lead Member for Economy Cllr Matthew Lock, who has been involved in the project which funded the app, said: “This is the perfect resource for those wanting to enjoy a countryside walk.

“Details of walks are already available on the East Sussex County Council website, but this new app means you can access the information on the move.”

The app also includes directions to the start of each walk, clearly written descriptions of the route, photos of path junctions, and other points of interest - including historical sites and the picturesque East Sussex countryside.

Cllr Lock added: “We are surrounded by beautiful countryside in East Sussex and we hope this new app will help our residents and visitors to our county make the most of what East Sussex has to offer.”

Walks can be selected by location, length, difficulty or chosen from a map of East Sussex.

To download the app, which works on Android and Apple devices, search for “East Sussex Walks” on the Google Play Store or on iTunes.
