Family Fun Day at Northiam's Blue Cross animal sanctuary on Sunday

Northiam's Blue Cross Centre is holding a Family Fun Day on Sunday in aid of needy animals

Animal lovers are invited to the centre from 10am to 4pm.

Proceeds from the day will go towards the care of needy pets and horses at the site on St Francis Fields, which hosts an animal adoption centre for cats and dogs and a rest and retirement home for horses and ponies.

Maria Marmo, centre manager at Northiam, said: "Bring the whole family

to join in with games and watch clever canines being put through their paces in an agility display.

"Cheer on the students from Hadlow College as they perform a western style riding display to music or enter your pooch in the dog show and you could pick up a prize for the 'waggiest tail', 'handsomest dog' or 'golden oldie' for the more mature mutt.

"There will be goodie bags full of treats and toys for each winner.

"The Northiam Fun Day will be a great day out for all the family. We have a fun-packed day planned and there's sure to be something for everyone - we really hope lots of people come along and support their local Blue Cross."

Hot on the heels of National Microchipping Month in June, visitors can take the opportunity to bring their pets along to be microchipped, helping to ensure a speedy reunion should they get lost.

Visitors can also enjoy refreshments, including a delicious hog roast and a Pimms tent, as well as pet portraits, raffle, a tombola and much more.

For further information about microchipping or to book an appointment, please contact The Blue Cross in Northiam on 01797 252 243
