Help Gallery Friends go Green

THE Friends of Rye Art Gallery are asking local people to help them in their efforts to become Top of the Pots.

They are competing in a UK wide recycling fund raising competition to see who can save the most Activia, Actimel and Shape yogurt pots from landfill.

The competition runs until the end of October and they are asking local people in Rye and the surrounding areas to help with their collection efforts.

At the end of the competition, the five top collectors will win contributions of £200, £100, £50, £25 or £10 to their chosen school, charity or non-profit organisation.

The Grand Prize winning location will also receive a visit from TerraCycle for a special recycling talk and interactive upcycling session.

The Friends of Rye Art Gallery are part of TerraCycle’s free nationwide programme called “Brigades” that pays individuals and organisations such as schools, businesses and groups to collect difficult to recycle waste that could otherwise go to landfill.

Brigade members are able to pick the charity, school or non-profit organisation of their choice as the beneficiary of any funds they raise.

“The Friends of Rye Art Gallery joined the Activia Yogurt Brigade in September 2010 and to date we have collected 3,215 yogurt pots and bottles earning £65.48 for Rye Art Gallery with TerraCycle” comments Pip Al Khafaji who set up and runs FRAG’S yogurt collection programme.
