Marie Curie volunteers are honoured

LONG-SERVING volunteers at Marie Curie Cancer Care received flowers and certificates for their efforts and enjoyed a tea party at the Terminus Road shop.

Bridget Wilson, known by friends as Biddy, has been volunteering at the Terminus Road shop for 30 years.

The 84-year-old knows most of the customers and is a popular lady in the town.

Certificates and orchids were handed out to Biddy, and to Jill Wallace-Tarry, who has completed 15 years service, and nine other volunteers who have all been working in the shop for five years.

Jane Farrant, manager at the Terminus Road shop, said, "They all work as a great team together and are very committed and competitive over who can achieve the largest sales of the day.

"It all adds to the fun."

The orchids were donated to Marie Curie by Little Flower Shop, in Eastbourne railway station.
