Methodist chapel sells at auction

A historic chapel at Lower Lake in Battle is set to go under the auctioneers hammer with a guide price of �140-160,000.

Battle Methodist Chapel, built in 1826 and with planning permission to be turned into two homes, is among 26 lots being sold by Clive Emson, the regional land and property auctioneers, next month.

Emma Attrell, senior auction valuer, said: We anticipate keen interest in this Grade II-listed property, which is located opposite Battle mainline railway station and with good access to the local high street, amenities and the A21.

A double-fronted property at 42-44 Ferry Road, Rye, has a guide of �80-90,000 and is arranged as a ground floor commercial unit, currently vacant, together with two self-contained flats above which have been sold on long leases. The ground rental income is �200 a year.

A historic chapel at Lower Lake in Battle was sold at an auction in Brighton on Tuesday.

The grade II-listed Battle Methodist Chapel, built in 1826 and with planning permission to be turned into two homes, was acquired for an undisclosed sum close to the guide price of £140-160,000.

The property was sold through auctioneers Clive Emson.
