Police warn of a rise in burglaries across Eastbourne

THERE has been a rise in burglaries in Hampden Park, as well as other areas of Eastbourne.

Police have had reports of three houses being burgled in Hampden Park this month, two of those were in Percival Road.

Officers say the rise is small but the problem is more noticable due to Eastbourne's low level of the crime.

PCSOs are making visits in affected areas to attempt to re-assure concerned residents.

Last month police warned of a spate of burglaries across Eastbourne. During a two-week period the town centre, Meads, Old Town, Langney, as well as Hampden Park, fell victim as cash, handbags, laptops and televisions were stolen.

The offences were mainly being committed during the evening and overnight.

The properties were mainly flats, often targeted when communal doors had been left open.

Police increased patrols and continue to work on investigating the crimes.
