Properties hit by heating oil thefts

THE recent freezing weather has seen a spate of heating oil thefts in the Rye area.

Two properties at Readers lane Iden have had more than 1,000 litres of oil stolen from external tanks in the past two months.

A police spokesman said: “There are several things you can do to help protect you oil tank. If you are having a new tank installed think about making it more visible from the house rather than hiding it behind a shed or outbuilding.”
