Revived 1066 Walk to raise vital charity funds for hospice

THE 1066 Walk will return on Sunday September 30 to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice.

The revived event is being organised by the Rotary Club of Battle.

Dennis Campbell is a longstanding member of the Rotary Club who helped organise the walk for 14 years when it was run by the British Heart Foundation.

He said: ”Everything is now ready for the revived 1066 Walk on Sunday 30 September.

“As this is a sponsored event to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice and charities supported by the Rotary Club of Battle, all we want now is a sunny autumn day and lots of walkers.”

He added: “We get generous support from the local community for signposting and marshalling the route, and providing refreshments for the walkers when they arrive at Battle Abbey School where the walk ends.

“It provides a pleasant and rewarding day out for serious walkers and families alike as there is a choice of three distances: 16 miles from Pevensey, 9 miles from Boreham Street or 4 miles from Steven’s Crouch”.

Would-be walkers should contact Marcia Dart at St Michael’s Hospice who will send all the details, including the start times at each point and a sponsorship form.

Please contact Marcia at the hospice on 01424 456381 or email mdart@stmichaelshospice.com
