Robertsbridge photo expo debuts in the village
Robertsbridge's unique photographic exhibition, Folk-Us, gets its first showing in the village this weekend.
The exhibition, which was created by local amateur photographers, is expected to be a popular feature at Saturday's Robertsbridge Summer Fete.
More than 40 pictures, which were taken by an assorted mix of local people, will go on display at the Robertsbridge Youth Centre, High Street, starting at 2pm.
Many hundreds of visitors saw the photographs on display at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill and at Independent Photographers Gallery in Battle.
Alan Haydon, the Director of the De La Warr, said that Folk-Us on Robertsbridge was "an exemplary arts project".
The exhibition was created by the Robertsbridge Arts Partnership and IPG and is a visual archive of the village, providing a look at everyday scenes and events and the lives of ordinary people in and around Robertsbridge.
Sue Prochak, chair of Robertsbridge Arts Partnership, said: "Folk-Us is a unique community project which showcases the determination of local people to develop their own cultural projects and provide a lasting record of Robertsbridge today.
"I do hope that as many people as possible will drop into the youth centre to see some familiar and some unfamiliar views of our village."
Visitors can also pick up a lasting record of the exhibition by purchasing a copy of the brochure at the special price of 2 each.
