IT has been revealed that a protestor who has been staying at the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road protest camp in Crowhurst is the daughter of legendary singer Chrissie Hynde, founder member of The Pretenders, and The Kinks frontman Ray Davies.

Natalie Hynde, who lives locally, has spent the last three weeks at the protest site and has been taking part in continued actions against the felling of trees for the preparation of the Link Road project.

Chrissie Hynde is lending her support to her daughter, who has been camping out in freezing conditions.

Chrissie, who has been inducted in to the rock and roll hall of fame and is herself an outspoken campaigner for animal rights, said: “I am delighted that my daughter is taking part in action against this ill-conceived road.”

Natalie says that her primary motivation for opposing the Link Road is the increase in carbon emissions which will result from the new road being built.

She said: “It is ludicrous that this road is being built at a time when we desperately need to be reducing CO2 emissions.

“All the studies show that if you build more roads then you encourage more car use which leads to even greater traffic problems.”
