Rye’s Tilling Green marks a busy and successful year

Rye’s Tilling Green Resident’s Association looked back on a landmark year when it held its recent AGM.

Rita Cox, from the Association, said: “One of the highlights of the year was, of course, the Jubilee Celebration that was very well attended.

“There was some discussion regarding the future of the Centre. As so much went into obtaining and creating it, but there is still a lot of work before its future can be assured, as it is not a given. We really need the support of all residents if this essential facility is to be retained, TGRA will be asking for your views on support in the forthcoming year. There’s a TGRA post box at the Centre, so any ideas, offers of support can be left there.

“Concern has been expressed about dog fouling, and the Association is actively pursuing Rother District Council to repair or improve the facilities. It also organised an extensive Litterpick, with residents taking part.

On the night of the Bonfire Parade in Rye (November 10th) the Café will be open at the Centre, staffed by TGRA, serving hot food from 5 p.m. to the procession moving off. For the first time Tilling Green is entering a float, a project taking six weeks work by the Association, supporting organisations and volunteers – do come along and have something to eat and cheer the Procession off as it leaves.”
