Safe stolen from Battle college

A kitchen safe was stolen by a burglar who broke into Battle’s Claverham Community College on Wednesday night.

The small, but heavy safe, containing nearly a week’s takings, was targeted by the raider who gained access to the school kitchen and then removed the safe from the kitchen office. The break in happened at some time between 4.30pm on Wednesday and 7.15am on Thursday.

PC Paul Riggs said: “The entire safe, which is about a one foot cube, was removed, so we’d be interested to hear where that ended up. There were several hundred pounds in coins inside, so I’d also like to hear from anyone who may have been asked to change a large sum by someone who they’re not familiar with or who doesn’t normally seek such a service.”

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between those times or has any information about the burglary is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 160 of 11/10.
