Study day at Bodiam Castle

BODIAM Castle is holding a study day in St Giles’ Church in the village tomorrow (Saturday), 10am-4pm.

Four expert lecturers will be speaking on the theme of Medieval rural society with particular reference to Sussex.

Christopher Whittick will speak on manors and manorial custom in medieval Sussex. Dr Christopher Briggs will talk about medieval English peasants and the law.

Dr John Hare will speak on Battle Abbey, a medieval Lord and his estates, and Lesley Boatwright will talk on medieval belief in miracles including those attributed to Henry VI in Sussex.

The event costs £40 per person and the price includes day of speakers, lunch and a glass of wine. Booking is essential.
