Teen actress named Best Newcomer in soap awards

A YOUNG actress from Sedlescombe, who last year landed a leading role in EastEnders, has won a top industry award.

Hetti Bywater, 17, scooped the Best Newcomer Award at the Inside Soap Awards 2012 on Monday for her portrayal of the rebellious Lucy Beale in the long-running drama series.

Hetti trained at The Theatre Workshop Stage School, based at St Richards Catholic School in Bexhill, for seven years.

Principal of The Theatre Workshop Lora Munro said: “This is amazing news for Hetti! I am unsurprised that her talent is making waves in the industry.

“She has always had something special and worked hard to be the best.

“We are extremely proud to have helped her develop her talent over the years and now watch her flourish and make her name as a professional actress.

“Hetti was always a dedicated student and is now a real inspiration to all our students.”
