Tree on the tracks delays trains

Commuters faced delays on the journeys up to London this morning (Wednesday) after a tree fell on the tracks.

Passengers travelling from Hastings and Battle had to wait up to 30 minutes longer to get to the capital as engineers from Network Rail removed the tree off the line in Frant, just south of Tunbridge Wells.

Alison Nolan, spokesman for Southeastern, which runs the services from Hastings to London’s Charing Cross station, said the incident was reported at 6.30am today and the tree was removed from the tracks by 7am.

Those wanting to check if there are any delays to their journeys should log on to www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/liverunning.
