CLASS 4 children at Peasmarsh CE Primary School stepped back in time recently when they took part in a Victorian Day.

Throughout January and February, the children had been learning about life in Victorian times, completing projects on ‘Victorian Inventions’; ‘The Victorian Seaside’; ‘Victorian Children’; ‘Famous Victorian People’; ‘The British Empire’ and ‘Victorian Law and Order’.

Their project culminated in a whole Victorian Day, where the Year 5 and 6 pupils dressed up in Victorian costume, had Victorian –style lessons and gave presentations on their work to parents and guests. The afternoon finished with a wonderful Victorian afternoon tea made by members of the Parent School Association.

Class 4 teacher, Simon Thurston said, “The Victorian Day was a great success. It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic the children and staff were about entering in to the spirit of the day.

“The pupils have thoroughly enjoyed learning about a wide range of themes during our Victorian project. They were particularly interested to research some of the local history about the school and the village from the period. I think it has really allowed the pupils to understand how life was like in Victorian times for people living in Peasmarsh.”
