Welcome to the new-look Rye & Battle Observer

Dear Reader

Welcome to your new-look Observer.

We’ve given ourselves an autumn makeoever, hopefully to make your weekly paper more appealing than ever.

And we have complemented the Observer’s new look with a whole host of new features.

The biggest change of all is the addition of a 16-page entertainments and what’s on section, called The Guide. It starts today on page 59.

Each week, it will bring you better-than-ever coverage of the theatre, music and arts scenes, as well as cinema news and comprehensive local listings.

There is also a gardening page and, for puzzle lovers among you, a new two-page section to tickle those brain cells (pages 70 and 71).

Some things haven’t changed. We’ve very much kept the character of your paper and its in-depth coverage of local news from your area.

But you will find a new nostalgia section - taking you on a weekly stroll down memory lane - and a new “Friday Feature”.

Above all, we want to keep the Observer as your paper. And we want to hear your views, so let us know what you think. If there’s something you want to see included, then please do get in touch.

Thank you.

Keith Ridley, Editor-in-Chief
