Woman arrested over hit and run

A DRIVER has been arrested following a hit and run incident on the A21 which left a man in hospital.

The incident happened at around 7.50pm on Sunday (October 28) by Whitechapel Fireplaces in Whatlington.

The 29-year-old victim was struck by a car heading south towards Hastings, which failed to stop.

The man, who hails from Hastings, was taken to the Conquest Hospital for treatment for minor injuries and released later that evening.

Earlier this week police arrested a 29-year-old woman on suspicion of careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

The woman, who is also from Hastings, has been released on police bail until December 5.

It is the second serious accident to happen on that stretch of the A21 in the space of just a few days.

On Sunday October 21 a man died when a car collided with a fence on a bend near the Royal Oak pub in Whatlington in the early hours of the morning.

Mustafa Cicek, aged 36 and from London, died shortly afterwards.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the hit and run incident, or who saw the pedestrian in the area around the time, to call them on 101.
