Youth group gains big cash award

A FAIRLIGHT youth centre is celebrating after being awarded thousands of pounds to improve facilities at their recreation ground base.

Activate were awarded £5,000 by Lloyds Banking Group Community Fund after beat ingoff stiff competition from other community groups and winning a public vote.

Wendy Hatch, who set up the group in 1998, said: “It is wonderful to think that the community have rallied round us like this and we are delighted to be getting this money.

“The kids that use it really respect it so we want to give it a bit of a face lift,”
