Cllr Bantick said; “I will endeavouring to complete the London/Prudential Cycle Sportif event to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
“I have so far raised £1,700 but hope to raise more.
“I have now reached the ripe old age of 80 and it does not get any easier. I have been training all through this year building up to 100 miles a week in training. I am just hoping my legs will be able to take the strain!
“If any reader wishes to add to my total contact me on e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: 01797 227724 and I will send that person a sponsorship form by e-mail or post.”
The ride starts at the Olympic Park in London and follows a 100 mile route around the capital and through the roads of Surrey in a route made famous by the 2012 Olympics.
