A DOG walking event through the Northiam countryside raised more than £400 for the Blue Cross re-homing centre.

Sophia Khan, from the Blue Cross, said: “The day was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part especially and the sun was shining for the occasion.

“There was a fantastic turn out, with 39 dogs taking part and around 100 people. They raised a total of £444.82.

“One of the dogs taking part had travelled 70 miles from Leigh-on-Sea with her owner Paula Ferrant.

“Paula adopted border collie Millie from Northiam Blue Cross and travelled back with her for the walk to update the team on her progress. She used to be a bit of a car chaser, but a loving home and plenty of training has transformed her into a lovely, well-trained member of society.”
