Flood alert for River Rother

A flood alert remains in place for the River Rother, despite drier weather this morning (Monday, February 8).

Last night the Environment Agency issued an alert for the River Rother and it’s tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including; Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.

The agency says the area has recived less rainfall than forecast and river levels are rising slowly.

Property flooding is not expected.

The flood alert status is expected to be updated later this afternoon.
