A FOOTBALL team from Milan will be heading to Sedlescombe later this month to play a charity football match.

The match will be played near the Pestalozzi International Village to raise money for sports kit for the Pestalozzi student team and Sedlescombe Primary School children.

The young people at Pestalozzi do not have any football kit other than a few hand-me-downs.

The organisers are hoping to raise £3,000, and any money raised over this from fundraising on the day will go towards new kits for the children at Sedlescombe School.

The Lord Mayor of Hastings and the First Team Manager of Hastings United will present a trophy to the winning team.

The Italian team Vecchie Glorie (the Old Glories) will pit themselves against a mix of players from East Sussex, including bakers, butchers and accountants - but no candlestick makers, as far as we know.

Both veteran sides have the potential to win the match trophy, which may become an annual event.

The Sedlescombe side is inviting the community to make suggestions for a team name on the Kits 4 Kicks Facebook page: facebook.com/Kits4Kicks.

Kits 4 Kicks is also hoping to raise enough money to kit out the Pestalozzi and Sedlescombe Primary School students. Sponsor them at justgiving.com/Kits4Kicks

The match will be held at Oaklands Park playing field, Sedlescombe, on Saturday May 17.

Kick-off is at 3pm and there will be refreshments available.

All are welcome to attend and support this fun family day out.
