Man seriously hurt following car chase drama

A DRAMATIC car chase across Rother left a man seriously injured when the car he was driving flipped over onto its roof in Robertsbridge.

Police were pursuing the vehicle following reports it had been stolen from an address in Hastings in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 11).

The vehicle was spotted a short time later, but failed to stop for police.

Officers pursued the green Fiat Punto through 1066 Country but the driver lost control and the car flipped onto its roof in Ludpit Lane, just after 2am.

The 34-year-old car driver received serious injuries.

The two other occupants of the vehicle, a 38-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man from Battle, received minor injuries.

All three were taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings for further treatment.

The two passengers were later released from hospital and immediately arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.

They were released on bail while further investigations take place.

The driver of the vehicle remains in hospital receiving treatment.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed of the incident.

Sussex Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with any information about the incident to call them on 101.
