A NEW walking festival is coming to 1066 Country this autumn.
A number of walks to suit all ages and abilities are being planned between Saturday October 4 and Friday October 10.
Proposed walks are planned to take between; Pevensey and Battle, Boreham Street and Battle, a Battle circular, Three Oaks to Battle, Winchelsea to Battle, Bexhill to Battle, Hastings Country Park, Hastings Alexandra Park, Combe Valley Country, Highwoods/Little Common, Burwash and the festival will finish with the Bexhill Healthy Walk Record Attempt.
Kevin Boorman, manager of 1066 Country marketing, said the festival will have something for everyone.
Kevin said: “We’ve got some fantastic walks across 1066 Country, of varying lengths and difficulty.
“And, of course, we’ve got some amazing countryside, and some beautiful towns and villages, which are wonderful to explore on foot.
“So we are working with our colleagues in the local councils, and with some great volunteers from local community and walking groups, to put on a walking festival which, we hope, will appeal to local residents and visitors alike.
“The festival will run from Saturday October 4 until Friday October 10.
“The first weekend will see some long distance walks converging on Battle on the Saturday, where we hope to host a small celebration event, with more local walks on the Sunday.
“Throughout the following week there will be a series of shorter walks, including a number of fully accessible walks, which we think will be particularly attractive to the local community.
“More details of the festival can be found on our website, www.visit1066country.com/walkingfestival
“I am especially grateful for the help and support of the local community and walking groups who are helping us to put on this festival.”
Times, dates and further details about the walks will be available on the website shortly.
Many of the walks are expected to be free of charge, or by donation request.
