A SPECIAL open day is being held for supporters of Brightling Village Hall to see the refurbished hall.

The hall committee decided to tackle the problem of keeping the hall heated at an affordable cost.

Following a lot of fundraising, generous donations from villagers and businesses and a grant from Rother District Council, the committee was able to undertake full cavity insulation, loft insulation, double glazing and central heating.

In addition the pair of front doors, which had been boarded up at the bottom, are now fully double glazed and look like the original doors from when the hall opened in 1955.

The open morning, which will take place on Sunday April 20 at 11am, will allow all those who helped with the project to see the final result.

The committee is now preparing plans to improve and modernise the amenities in the hall.
