Antiques Roadshow glass expert Andy McConnell is set to open a new furniture warehouse at ARRCC’s New Road site on Saturday.
The charity, which provides activities and therapies for disabled adults, hoped the project will raise much needed funds to help it continue.
It will be based in the old indoor swimming pool building at the former Freda Gardham School.
Jacky Barker, Independent Living Co-ordinator has taken on the mammoth task of finding ‘pre-loved’ furniture to sell in the warehouse .
It will also allow ARRCC members to learn furniture restoration skills and other skills such as French polishing.
Irna Mortlock, from ARRCC, said: “The response in Rye and the local area has been incredible. Dedicated volunteers helped to renovate the building and we have a volunteer driver to collect furniture.
“Andy McConnell, a great supporter of this local charity has agreed to open the Warehouse on Saturday August 30 at 2pm.”
Also attending Saturday’s launch of th furniture project is Rye MP Amber Rudd and Rye Mayor Cllr Bernardine Fiddimore.
