Children at St Thomas’Primary School at Winchelsea held its own farmers’ market as part of the “Farm to Fork” topic the school is taking part in
Pupils have also taken part in the Tesco food trail in Hastings as well as visiting local farms and the Fishermans’ museum in the Old Town and taking part in a live internet broadcast with fishermen in Newlyn, Cornwall.
The Friday afternoon farmers’ market was the culmination of the topic and the children made produce and crafts to sell to parents and neighbours.
Diane Nunn, from the school, said: “The event was very successful and well attended, with a variety of class made produce including jam, lemon curd, mackerel pate, bread, cakes, waffles from our own eggs, flowers and plants.
“Crafts included hand embroidered aprons, ceramics, printed shopping bags and handmade cards and wrapping paper.”
