Two people hurt in motorbike accident

TWO people ended up in hospital following a crash between a car and motorbike in Battle.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the accident on the A271, near the Squirrel pub, just before 9.40am on Saturday (May 31).

A Ford Focus collided with a Suzuki motorbike.

The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old man from Newhaven, was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings, by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

His injuries were not thought to be serious.

A passenger in the Ford Focus, a 49-year-old woman from Battle, was also taken to the Conquest Hospital with back pain.

The driver of the car, a 50-year-old man from Battle, was uninjured.

The road was closed due to the collision and a fuel leakage from the motorbike.

Police re-opened the road to traffic at 11am.
